<p style="text-align: justify;">Yo-yo dieting refers to constant fluctuations in weight through unhealthy weight loss methods. The name comes from the spinning yo-yo toy that moves up and down repeatedly. In a similar manner, yo-yo dieters repeatedly move up and down in their weight gain and loss. Yo-yo dieting is both a risk to health and an ineffective way of losing weight and keeping it off.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The yo-yo dieter often tries to lose weight too quickly. He or she may skip meals, reduce calories too much, or follow fad diets. Fad diets are those that drastically restrict calories and/or stress extreme eating such as only eating grapefruit or cabbage soup. Although initial weight loss may easily result from these efforts the after effects on the body may actually limit further weight loss because the body&#8217;s metabolism tends to slow down.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Metabolism refers to the body&#8217;s food burning system. When calories or nutrition is too limited, the body defends itself against starvation by storing energy and this causes a slower metabolism. A slower metabolism leads to slower weight loss and a loss of muscle tone may also result. The dieter often feels frustrated that the strict diet is no longer working and engages in binge eating and/or returns to eating the same amount of calories and fat he or she did before starting the diet. The increase in fat and calories leads to weight gain and because the metabolism is affected again the dieter may even end up at a higher body weight than before the diet.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">When the dieter then tries to lose weight again the yo-yo dieting cycle occurs and tends to continue with alternating periods of weight loss and weight gain. The constant fluctuations in weight further compromise metabolism and put stress on organs. For example, several studies have indicated that yo-yo dieting puts dieters at an increased risk of heart disease.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Fad diets and yo-yo dieting should always be avoided. Weight loss should instead be considered a slow and steady process that involves a healthy balanced diet and regular physical exercise. The body&#8217;s metabolism has been shown to work at its most efficient when breakfast is eaten and small meals and snacks are consumed every few hours throughout the day. A doctor may recommend food and exercise plans that coordinate with a patient&#8217;s overall health.</p>

The number of places holding Yoga classes is on the increase and there is a plethora of different types of Yoga. With a choice of Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga, Iyengar Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and many more it can be easy to get confused</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The article will help you to understand the difference between the most popular types of Yoga so you can choose which type is right for you.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Hatha Yoga &#8211; in Sanskrit (an ancient classical language of India) “Ha” means “sun” and “tha” means “moon”. This type of Yoga is relatively slow paced, gentle type of Yoga and is a good place to start if you are completely new to Yoga and don&#8217;t know any of the asanas (poses). Like all types of Yoga, Hatha Yoga aims to unite the mind, body and spirit.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Ashtanga Yoga &#8211; this is the type of Yoga that I practice on a regular basis and means “eight limbs” in Sanskrit. It&#8217;s a fast moving, intense style of Yoga practice and is based on a progressive set sequence of asanas, synchronized with the breath. Ashtanga Yoga can be quite physically demanding as you constantly move from one asana in the sequence to the next, so you&#8217;ll find that it will improve your stamina as well as your flexibility and strength..</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Power Yoga &#8211; this is a western interpretation of Yoga and is based on Ashtanga Yoga. A Power Yoga class may not necessarily stick to the exact sequence of poses like Ashtanga Yoga does, but it does involve practicing a series of poses without stopping and starting.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Iyengar Yoga &#8211; This type of Yoga is based on teachings by B.K.S Igengar and concentrates on the correct alignment and form of the body. Unlike Ashtanga Yoga, there is an emphasis on holding each pose for a long period of time rather than moving constantly from one pose to the next. Iyengar Yoga uses props such as blocks and straps to help align the body into the different poses.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Vinyasa Yoga &#8211; Vinyasa means breath synchronized movement and is another fast paced type of Yoga, with an emphasis on breathing. A practice typically starts with sun salutations and moves on to more intense stretching. Throughout the practice each pose is balanced with a counter pose.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Bikram Yoga &#8211; otherwise known as “Hot Yoga”, is practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees, with a humidity of around 40%. Generally a sequence of 26 different poses is practiced during a Bikram Yoga class and the hot temperature helps to loosen muscles. Due to the high temperature most people sweat a lot during the class and this helps to cleanse the body of toxins.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If you&#8217;re just starting out or have never done any Yoga before, I recommend trying a few different types of yoga to find out what you like best.</p>

The South Beach Diet actually urges you to have snacks during the day and you will still have 3 course meals. It seems that the first two weeks are when everything starts to happen. During the first two weeks of The South Beach Diet you will not be allowed to eat any bread, pasta, rice, potatoes or any fruit. Also things like chocolates and cakes as well as sugar are not allowed to be touched during the first two weeks of The South Beach Diet. After two weeks though you can actually start to eat these foods again because you will be eating the right amount of carbohydrates and so you will lose weight instead of gaining it.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Disadvantages of The South Beach Diet</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There are a lot of people that disagree with The South Beach Diet and it seems that they have a good reason to. Just like the Atkins diet there seems to be a big problem with some of the foods that are suggested that you eat. This can result in problems for lots of people. You need to make sure that you have a healthy balanced diet and not a diet that is as erratic as The South Beach Diet. You will be encouraged to eat a lot of food that is highly unhealthy and this will result in future problems. The way our bodies work is very fascinating, but the way that people try to change this through diets can and will cause problems for many of us. For example some of the foods such as fish do have a high level of Mercury in them. The reason for these high levels of Mercury is because of generations of pollution that has been taking place. But high levels of Mercury can cause someone to experience serious neurological disorders. While this will only be as a result of high levels of Mercury intake it seems that The South Beach Diet wants you to have a lot of fish intake, especially during the first two weeks and as you start to include it into your diet after these first two weeks you will still have a high intake of fish plus all the other minerals that come with fish such as Mercury.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">There are many diets that do work and they work very well. However it seems that The South Beach Diet has helped many people to lose weight, but it seems that people are trying to forget about the old way of losing weight through general exercise of about 30 minutes a day and also eating a healthy well balanced diet. If you have been eating a lot of bread and are then told to quit for two weeks for you new diet, then you will experiences some withdrawal symptoms and you will find it hard to resist these cravings.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">With all these new diets coming out a lot of people get confused as to which diet is right for them. They do seem to get lost somewhere and find it hard to find the right diet that will help them lose a lot of weight. If you do choose to go for a normal well balanced diet then you can be sure that there is nothing wrong with what you are eating. While these diets all over the world claim to help you lose weight a lot of them are rubbish and are just invented to help some people make some money for themselves.</p>

<p>The rate at which your body either produces or consumes energy, and calories, is possible, because of what is known as the <em>metabolism</em>. Many people spend half their lives fighting to increase, or decrease their metabolism, depending, in a lot of cases, on what age they are. This is, because, the metabolism, when elevated, is what allows the body to burn adipose tissue, and lose weight with the slightest amount of activity, and, of course, vice versa.</p>
<p>Activity levels, your personal diet, stress levels, genetics, and the amount of muscle you have, are just some of the factors that have an effect on your metabolism. It is the lack of physical activity that causes your metabolism to slow down, because your body, due to the loss of muscle tissue, begins to take from itself in order to get enough of what it needs to sustain it. This is one of the main reasons many people have a tendency to gain weight as they get older, and into old age. The older a person gets, the less active they seem to become.</p>

<p>With decreased activity, and a slower metabolism occurring as we can continue to age, it&#8217;s good to know that these effects can be reversed with some good old fashioned exercise. The amount of muscle mass a person has also determines how fast, or slow, their metabolism is when burning, and/or shedding, calories, and/or fat. Your exercise routine doesn&#8217;t have to be a rigorous one, but to work out at least twice a week can be most beneficial for your metabolism rate. Simple calisthenics is better than nothing, but it is said that the best exercise regimen is with weights. For the days that you&#8217;re not bodybuilding, simple walks will do the thing to keep your metabolism building at a steady rate.</p>
<p><strong>Change Your Diet</strong></p>
<p>It is a fact that breakfast IS the most important meal of the day. This is the meal that jumpstarts your body, after hours of resting. Studies have shown that people that eat breakfast are less prone to gaining weight then them that skip breakfast. The metabolism has shown to decrease if a person decides to eat later in the day, namely, late-morning, to early afternoon hours. To be noted before continuing with this, it is not necessary to eat until we feel &#8220;full&#8221;. It is actually recommended that we consume between four to six small meals, about two to three hours apart from one another, in the course of a day. Great metabolism builders are spicy foods, fruits, vegetables, grains, and beans.</p>
<p><strong>Remove Stress &amp; Get Proper Rest</strong></p>
<p>Stress can actually cause your metabolism to feign. Stress also causes people, in many cases, to eat more than usual, which, of course, adds to the problem of gaining weight. Be sure to try, as much as possible, to relieve yourself of stress as much as possible, and with this, get proper rest. Sleeping too much equals less exercise, whereas, sleeping too little can cause irritability, which in turn, causes stress, and weight gain. With patience and determination, you can be sure that you can stabilize your metabolism levels, which would do nothing less than revitalize your entire life!</p></div>

And the only way you do this is through exercise &#8211; especially if you have a sedentary lifestyle and work at a desk most of the day. In fact, most doctors recommend walking for cardiac patients quite frequently. So walking is a great way to get started right away.
